Who we are
Keep the Most (keepthemost.com) is owned and operated by MatchSticks Online, which is the data controller for the limited processing described on this page. You can reach us at [email protected] or via our contact page.
Your calculations stay on your device
Every figure you type into the calculator — salary, currency, the places you compare — is processed entirely inside your browser using JavaScript. Nothing you enter is sent to us, stored on a server, or logged anywhere. We never see your salary.
If you use the "copy link to this comparison" button, your figures are placed in the URL so you can share it. That link only goes wherever you choose to paste it.
What we don't do
- No accounts, sign-ups, logins or passwords
- No cookies — none at all, so there is no cookie banner to click
- No contact forms, newsletters or email collection
- No ad networks, banner ads or advertising trackers
- No selling, renting or sharing of data — we hold none to share
- No cross-site tracking, fingerprinting or advertising profiles
What is collected, and by whom
Three things happen in the background. None of them identify you personally.
1. Anonymous visitor statistics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views and see which pages are useful. It is a privacy-first, cookieless tool: it sets no cookies, does not use device fingerprinting, and does not track you across other websites. It records aggregate information such as page URL, referring site, country, browser and operating system. We cannot identify an individual visitor from it. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Google Analytics (added 25 August 2026)
We also use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages people find and how they arrive. We run it in a cookieless configuration: Google Consent Mode is set to deny analytics and advertising storage, so Analytics stores nothing on your device — no cookies, no local storage — and there is no identifier that follows you between visits. That is a deliberate trade: we accept blunter numbers rather than track you, which is also why you have not been asked to click a cookie banner.
What is still sent to Google: the page you viewed, the site or search that referred you, approximate location derived from your IP address (Google truncates it; we never see it), device type, browser and operating system. Because nothing is stored on your device, we cannot tell a returning visitor from a new one — every visit is counted fresh and no profile of you accumulates.
We have not enabled Google Signals, advertising features, or ad personalisation, and we run no ads. Google is the data processor and its own terms govern what it does with the data — see Google's privacy policy and how Google uses Analytics data.
Still true, and the one that matters most: none of this touches your salary. The figure you type never leaves your browser and is never sent to Google, to Cloudflare, or to us — see the section above.
Turning it off
Nothing here depends on Analytics loading, so blocking it costs you nothing:
- Install Google's official opt-out browser add-on, which blocks Analytics on every site.
- Use any tracker-blocking extension, or a browser that blocks trackers by default — the calculator behaves exactly the same.
2. Standard server and network logs
The site is delivered through Cloudflare's network and hosted on Namecheap servers. Like all web infrastructure, these automatically process your IP address and request details in order to deliver the page and to protect the site from attacks and abuse. These logs are held briefly by those providers under their own policies and are not used by us to build any profile of you.
3. Live exchange rates
To convert between currencies, your browser requests current exchange rates directly from open.er-api.com. Because your browser makes that request itself, that service will see your IP address — exactly as it would for any website you visit. No information about your salary, your calculation or your selected countries is included in that request; it simply asks for the day's rates.
Local storage (not tracking)
The site stores one item in your browser's local storage, under the key taxtiger_fx_v1: a copy of the day's exchange rates, kept for up to 12 hours. This exists purely so the site loads faster and still works if the rate service is unavailable. It contains no personal data and no identifier, it is never transmitted anywhere, and clearing your browser data removes it.
Affiliate links
Some pages carry a link to SafetyWing, an insurance provider for people living and working abroad. If you take out a policy after following one of those links, we may earn a commission. It costs you nothing extra, and it is the only commercial relationship on this site.
Two commitments about it. First, no figure on this site is influenced by it — the tax model, the rankings and every number are computed the same way they were before, and we would tell you if that ever changed. Second, these links appear only where they are genuinely relevant: on pages about the gap between health systems, because that is a real cost our take-home figures exclude. Every one of them is labelled where it appears and marked rel="sponsored" in the HTML.
Following an affiliate link takes you to SafetyWing's own site, where their privacy policy applies. The link carries a referral code identifying this site as the source; it does not carry any information about you, and we receive no personal data about anyone who signs up.
Links to other sites
We link to official tax authorities and reference sources — for example on the methodology page. Once you follow a link, that site's own privacy policy applies. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of external sites.
Your rights
Privacy laws such as the UK/EU GDPR, South Africa's POPIA and California's CCPA give you rights to access, correct or delete personal data held about you, and to object to its processing.
Honestly: MatchSticks Online holds no personal data about you, so in practice there is nothing for us to hand over, correct or erase. If you believe otherwise, contact us using the details below and we will respond. To exercise rights over the log data held by our infrastructure providers, contact Cloudflare or Namecheap directly.
Children
This site is a general-audience financial reference tool. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone — including children under 13 (or 16 in the EU/UK).
Changes to this policy
If we ever introduce something that changes how data is handled — display advertising, for instance, or an email newsletter — this page will be updated before that change goes live, and the date at the top will change. That is exactly what happened when the affiliate link described above was added. There is no version of this site where tracking appears without it being described here first.
